  • Animal Rights & Democracy: Why Animals Can't Vote
Animals are non-human organisms and do not have the capacity for abstract thought, language, or complex decision-making required to exercise voting rights. While animals may experience conscious awareness, emotions, and social behavior, these capacities are not equivalent to the level of cognitive sophistication necessary to participate in democratic processes. Furthermore, considering animals as constituents neglects their unique interests and vulnerabilities and could potentially lead to conflicts between the rights of humans and the rights of animals.
