They are born quite large compared to other mammals of similar size. On average, a newborn panda weighs between 90 and 130 grams (3.2-4.6 oz). This is about 1/900th the weight of an adult panda, which typically weighs between 75 and 150 kg (165-331 lb).

By comparison, human newborns weigh an average of 3200 grams (7 lb), which is about 1/20th of the weight of an adult human.
