  • Einstein and Gravity: Understanding General Relativity vs. Newton's Law
Albert Einstein did not discover gravity. The concept of gravity was understood long before Einstein. Isaac Newton formulated the law of universal gravitation in the 17th century.

What Einstein did was revolutionize our understanding of gravity with his theory of general relativity, published in 1915. This theory explained gravity not as a force, but as a consequence of the curvature of spacetime caused by the presence of mass and energy.
