  • Christiaan Huygens: Pioneer of the Wave Theory of Light
The wave theory of light was first proposed by Christiaan Huygens in 1678.

While the idea that light might be a wave had been considered before, Huygens was the first to develop a comprehensive and mathematical theory explaining light's behavior based on wave principles. His work, "Traité de la lumière" (Treatise on Light), laid the foundation for the understanding of light as a wave phenomenon that we have today.
