  • Ernst Ruska & Max Knoll: Pioneers of the Electron Microscope
The first electron microscope was built by Ernst Ruska and Max Knoll in 1931 at the Technical University of Berlin.

While both scientists contributed significantly, Ernst Ruska is generally credited as the primary inventor. He received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1986 for his work on electron optics and for his design of the first electron microscope.
