  • Gamma Ray Frequency and Wavelength: An Inverse Relationship
    The frequency of a gamma ray increases as its wavelength decreases.

    This is because the frequency and wavelength of electromagnetic radiation, including gamma rays, are inversely proportional. This relationship is described by the following equation:

    c = fλ

    where:

    * c is the speed of light (a constant)

    * f is the frequency

    * λ is the wavelength

    As you can see from this equation, if the wavelength (λ) decreases, the frequency (f) must increase to keep the product (c) constant.

    Therefore, a gamma ray with a shorter wavelength will have a higher frequency, and vice versa.
