  • Earth's Solar Energy: Understanding Visible Light, Infrared, and UV Radiation
The three electromagnetic waves that make up most of the energy Earth receives from the sun are:

    1. Visible light: This is the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that our eyes can see, encompassing the colors of the rainbow. It accounts for about 44% of the sun's total energy output.

    2. Infrared radiation: This is a type of radiation that we feel as heat. It accounts for about 49% of the sun's energy output.

    3. Ultraviolet (UV) radiation: This is a type of radiation that can be harmful to living organisms in high doses. It accounts for about 7% of the sun's energy output.

While other types of electromagnetic radiation are emitted by the sun, these three are the most significant in terms of energy reaching Earth.
