Here's why:
* Our Sun's surface temperature is around 5,500 K.
* Stars with surface temperatures around 3,000 K are classified as red dwarfs. They are the most common type of star in the Milky Way galaxy.
* Red dwarfs are much cooler, smaller, and dimmer than our Sun. They have a very long lifespan.
So, while 3000 K sounds hot, it's actually a relatively cool temperature for a star.
