There are no stars in the atmosphere. The atmosphere is the layer of gases that surrounds the Earth. Stars are celestial objects that exist outside of our atmosphere, in space.

While we see stars in the night sky, they are actually incredibly far away from us and their light travels through the atmosphere to reach our eyes.
