  • Earth's Gravity: Does it Depend on the Sun?
Yes, Earth would still have gravity even without the Sun.

    Here's why:

    * Gravity is an intrinsic property of mass. Every object with mass has a gravitational pull. The more mass an object has, the stronger its gravitational pull.

    * The Sun's gravity doesn't create Earth's gravity. The Sun's gravity keeps Earth in orbit, but it doesn't cause Earth to have its own gravity.

    * Earth's gravity is due to its own mass. The Earth's mass pulls on all objects near it, including you, and this force of attraction is what we call gravity.

So, even if the Sun disappeared, Earth would still have its own gravitational pull. However, without the Sun's gravitational influence, Earth would no longer be in orbit and would likely fly off into space.
