  • Best Time for Stargazing: New Moon vs. Full Moon for Astronomers
Star astronomers prefer to make stellar observations during the new moon part of the month. Here's why:

    * Moonlight Interference: The full moon casts a significant amount of light, making it difficult to see faint stars and other celestial objects. The bright moonlight essentially washes out the dimmer light from distant stars.

    * Dark Skies: During the new moon phase, the sky is much darker, allowing for optimal viewing conditions. This is particularly important for observing faint objects like galaxies, nebulae, and distant stars.

While astronomers can still make some observations during the full moon, they are limited to brighter objects, like planets and some bright stars.
