    It's not about "miles around the sun" because the sun isn't a solid object with a circumference. We talk about the distance traveled by a planet in its orbit around the sun.

    For Earth, it takes about 584 million miles to complete one orbit around the sun.

    To be more precise, we use the term astronomical unit (AU). One AU is the average distance between the Earth and the sun, which is about 93 million miles.

    So, Earth's orbit is approximately 1 AU in length.
