  • Stratus Clouds: Altitude, Formation, and Variations
Stratus clouds are low-level clouds, typically found between 2,000 and 6,500 feet (610 and 2,000 meters) above ground level.

    However, there are some variations:

    * Stratus clouds can sometimes form near the ground, especially in fog or mist conditions.

    * Stratus clouds can also be part of a larger system, such as a nimbostratus cloud, which can extend higher into the atmosphere.

So, while the typical height of stratus clouds is within that range, there can be exceptions depending on the specific conditions.
