  • Earth's Rotation and Orbit: Understanding Day and Night
The Earth is always facing towards the Sun, but only half of the Earth is facing the Sun at any given time. This is because the Earth rotates on its axis, which takes approximately 24 hours to complete.

    Here's how it works:

    * Rotation: The Earth spins on its axis, causing day and night. The side of the Earth facing the Sun experiences daylight, while the opposite side experiences night.

    * Orbit: The Earth also orbits the Sun in a roughly circular path. This orbit takes about 365 days to complete, which is why we have a year.

Therefore, while the Earth is always moving towards the Sun in its orbit, only one side of the Earth is directly facing the Sun at any given moment due to its rotation.
