  • Sunlight Wavelength: What's the Peak Emission?
The Sun emits a spectrum of radiation, but its maximum intensity occurs at a wavelength of around 500 nanometers. This wavelength falls within the green portion of the visible light spectrum, although the Sun's overall appearance to our eyes is yellow-white.

This is known as Wien's Displacement Law, which states that the wavelength of peak emission for a blackbody is inversely proportional to its temperature. The Sun's surface temperature is around 5,778 Kelvin, which corresponds to a peak emission around 500 nanometers.
