  • Finding Polaris: A Guide to Locating the North Star
The North Star, also known as Polaris, is located almost directly above the North Pole.

    Here's how to find it:

    * Find the Big Dipper: This constellation is shaped like a dipper or a ladle.

    * Find the two stars at the end of the dipper's bowl: These are called "pointer stars".

    * Draw an imaginary line through the pointer stars: This line will point you directly to Polaris, the North Star.

Important Note: The North Star is very close to the celestial North Pole, but it's not *exactly* on it. This means it's not perfectly stationary, but its movement is very subtle and barely noticeable.
