Sirius: The Brightest Star in the Night Sky - Facts & Information
The brightest star we can see in the night sky is Sirius, also known as the Dog Star. It's located in the constellation Canis Major (the Great Dog).
While it appears to be the brightest, it's actually a binary star system, meaning there are two stars orbiting each other. The main star, Sirius A, is a white dwarf, and its companion, Sirius B, is a faint white dwarf.
