  • Coolest Stars: Understanding Stellar Temperatures and Colors
    The least hottest stars are red.

    Here's why:

    * Star Color and Temperature: A star's color is directly related to its surface temperature.

    * Red Stars: These are the coolest stars, with surface temperatures ranging from about 2,500 to 3,500 degrees Celsius.

    * Other Colors: As stars get hotter, they change color:

    * Orange: 3,500 to 4,500 degrees Celsius

    * Yellow: 4,500 to 6,000 degrees Celsius

    * White: 6,000 to 7,500 degrees Celsius

    * Blue: 7,500 to 10,000 degrees Celsius

    * Blue-White: Above 10,000 degrees Celsius

    Remember, even the coolest red stars are incredibly hot by our standards!
