  • The Sun: A History of Its Understanding & Significance
The sun wasn't "discovered" in the way we discover new animals or planets. It's always been there!

    Here's why:

    * The sun has always been a fundamental part of our solar system. It was there long before humans existed.

    * Early civilizations understood the sun's importance. They worshipped it as a deity and observed its movements for agricultural purposes.

    * The scientific understanding of the sun evolved over time. Ancient Greek philosophers like Anaxagoras proposed ideas about the sun, and later, scientists like Copernicus and Galileo made major breakthroughs in understanding its nature.

So, it's more accurate to say that our understanding of the sun has evolved over centuries, rather than it being "discovered" on a specific day.
