  • Jupiter's Nightside: Discover Auroras & Lightning Storms
Two occurrences that can be seen on Jupiter's night side are:

    1. Auroras: Jupiter has incredibly strong auroras, much more powerful than those seen on Earth. These auroras are caused by charged particles from the sun interacting with Jupiter's magnetic field. They can be seen as bright, colorful displays in ultraviolet and infrared light, even though they are not visible to the naked eye in the visible spectrum.

    2. Lightning Storms: Jupiter has a very active atmosphere, including frequent and powerful lightning storms. These storms are much more powerful than those on Earth, and can be detected by radio telescopes. While they are not directly visible on the night side, they are often accompanied by visible flashes of light, which can be seen as brief, bright spots on the planet's surface.
