  • What Are Stars Made Of? Understanding Stellar Composition
Stars are made of plasma, which is often considered the fourth state of matter.

    Here's why:

    * Gases are made of atoms that are loosely bound and move freely.

    * Plasma is like a gas, but the atoms are so hot that their electrons are stripped away, creating a mix of charged particles (ions and electrons).

The immense heat and pressure within stars cause the atoms to become ionized, creating plasma. This plasma is incredibly hot (millions of degrees Celsius) and radiates light and energy.
