  • Hubble Space Telescope: Why No Images of Mercury?
The Hubble Space Telescope has not taken any pictures of Mercury.

    Here's why:

    * Orbit and Distance: Hubble orbits Earth, while Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun. This means Mercury is often lost in the Sun's glare from Hubble's perspective.

    * Sun's Gravity: The Sun's strong gravity would make it very difficult for Hubble to maintain a stable orbit close enough to Mercury for detailed imaging.

    * Heat: The intense heat near the Sun would damage Hubble's instruments.

While Hubble is not designed for Mercury observations, other spacecraft, like MESSENGER and BepiColombo, have been specifically designed to study Mercury and have captured stunning images.
