  • Planetary Orbits: Why No Planets Orbit the Sun Backwards?
    All the planets in our solar system orbit the Sun in the same direction, which is counterclockwise when viewed from above the Sun's north pole.

    There are no planets in our solar system that orbit the Sun in the opposite direction (clockwise).

    However, there are some comets and asteroids that have retrograde orbits, meaning they orbit the Sun in the opposite direction to the planets. This is thought to be due to gravitational interactions with other objects in the solar system.
