  • Sun Composition: What's It Made Of? (Hydrogen, Helium & More)
    The Sun is primarily composed of:

    * Hydrogen (H): About 70.6% of the Sun's mass is hydrogen.

    * Helium (He): About 27.4% of the Sun's mass is helium.

    These two elements make up the vast majority of the Sun's composition. There are trace amounts of other elements, including:

    * Oxygen (O)

    * Carbon (C)

    * Neon (Ne)

    * Iron (Fe)

    * Silicon (Si)

    * Magnesium (Mg)

    * Sulfur (S)

    * Nickel (Ni)

    * Calcium (Ca)

    These heavier elements only make up a small fraction of the Sun's mass, but they are still important for various processes occurring within the Sun, such as nuclear fusion.
