Here's why:
* Sunlight: The sun's light is incredibly bright and overwhelms the faint light from stars. Even on a clear day, the atmosphere scatters sunlight, making it difficult to see anything faint.
* Well Depth: Wells are typically too shallow to significantly block out the sunlight. Even if you were in a very deep well, the sunlight would still be strong enough to prevent you from seeing stars.
You might be able to see stars from the bottom of a well at night, assuming it's deep enough and the sky is clear and dark. But during the day, the sun's brilliance makes it impossible.
