The spacecraft was intentionally crashed into Saturn's atmosphere on September 15, 2017, to prevent it from potentially contaminating any of Saturn's moons with Earth-based microbes.
While the mission is over, the vast amount of data collected by Cassini continues to be analyzed and studied by scientists worldwide, yielding new discoveries about Saturn and its moons.
