* We haven't discovered all of them: While we've identified thousands of moons orbiting planets in our solar system, there are likely many more out there that we haven't seen yet, especially in distant, faint systems.
* What counts as a moon?: The definition of a moon can be a bit fuzzy. Do we count small, asteroid-like objects orbiting planets? Or are we only talking about large, round bodies like our own moon?
* Moons are constantly being discovered: New moons are being discovered all the time as we improve our telescopes and observing techniques.
However, we can give you some estimates:
* Solar System: Currently, we know of over 200 moons orbiting the planets in our solar system.
* Exoplanets: It's likely that there are millions of moons orbiting the billions of exoplanets we've discovered.
So, the total number of moons in space is probably far greater than we currently know!
