  • Moonlight: How the Moon Reflects Sunlight & Creates Phases
Yes, the moon does receive light from the sun.

The moon itself doesn't produce any light of its own. The light we see from the moon is actually sunlight reflecting off its surface. This is why we see different phases of the moon - the amount of sunlight reflected back to us changes depending on the position of the moon, Earth, and sun.
