Here's how we are able to see the moon and other planets at night:
* The Moon: The moon shines because it reflects sunlight. We see it at night because it's illuminated by the sun, which is still shining even though it's below the horizon for us.
* Planets: Planets also reflect sunlight, but they are much farther away than the moon. We see them as points of light, and their brightness depends on how much sunlight they reflect and how close they are to Earth.
The reason we see these objects at night is because the Earth rotates on its axis, turning us away from the sun and into darkness. While the sun is shining on the other side of the Earth, the moon and planets are still illuminated and visible to us.
