  • Moon vs. Sun: Understanding Orbits and Apparent Motion
The celestial body that orbits the Earth in the same way that the Sun does is the Moon.

    Here's why:

    * Both the Sun and Moon appear to orbit the Earth. This is due to our perspective from Earth. In reality, the Earth orbits the Sun, and the Moon orbits the Earth.

    * Both exhibit apparent motion across the sky. We see the Sun rise in the east and set in the west, and we see the Moon do the same. This is due to the Earth's rotation.

It's important to note that the Moon's orbit is much closer to the Earth than the Sun's orbit, and it takes much less time to complete a revolution (approximately 27.3 days).
