  • Identifying the Brightest Star in the Big Dipper: Polaris vs. Dubhe
The brightest star in the Big Dipper is Polaris, also known as the North Star.

However, Polaris is not actually part of the Big Dipper. It's located near the end of the handle of the Little Dipper, which is a smaller constellation near the Big Dipper.

The brightest star within the Big Dipper itself is Dubhe, located at the top of the dipper's bowl.
