  • Gibbous Moon Explained: Waxing & Waning Phases
    When over half the moon is lit, it's called a gibbous moon.

    There are two types:

    * Waxing gibbous: This happens when the lit portion of the moon is increasing, and the moon is between first quarter and full moon.

    * Waning gibbous: This happens when the lit portion of the moon is decreasing, and the moon is between full moon and last quarter.
