* Earth is not a "piece" of the Sun. Earth formed from a giant cloud of dust and gas, called a solar nebula, that was left over from the formation of the Sun. The Sun formed in the center of this nebula due to gravity pulling all the material together. Earth formed much later from the leftover material in the outer regions of the nebula.
* The Sun's material is the "parent" material. It's true that the Sun is a giant ball of hydrogen and helium, and those same elements are found in Earth (though in different proportions). This is because the materials that formed Earth originated in the same cloud that formed the Sun!
* We are literally made of stardust. The hydrogen and helium that make up the Sun and Earth were created in the cores of stars that exploded billions of years ago (supernovas). So, in a sense, the material in Earth did come from a star, just not directly from the Sun.
So, while Earth isn't a "piece" of the Sun, it's important to remember that:
* Earth and the Sun formed from the same material, making them "siblings" in a way.
* We share a common origin in the vast cosmic processes that created the universe.
