* Troposphere: The troposphere is the lowest layer of Earth's atmosphere, extending from the surface up to about 7-17 kilometers (4-11 miles) depending on latitude. It's where weather happens.
* Van Allen Belts: These are two donut-shaped zones of highly energetic charged particles (mainly protons and electrons) trapped by Earth's magnetic field. They are located much higher up, starting at around 640 kilometers (400 miles) and extending outward to tens of thousands of kilometers.
Therefore, the troposphere is far below the Van Allen Belts. In between these two are several other atmospheric layers, including the stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere.
