    Astronomers use frequencies other than visible light for several crucial reasons:

    1. Penetrating Earth's Atmosphere:

    * Visible light: Earth's atmosphere blocks a significant amount of visible light, especially in the infrared and ultraviolet ranges. This restricts our view of the cosmos.

    * Other frequencies: Radio waves, X-rays, gamma rays, and some infrared and ultraviolet wavelengths can penetrate our atmosphere better than visible light. This allows us to study objects that are obscured by atmospheric interference.

    2. Studying Different Phenomena:

    * Different wavelengths reveal different information: Each frequency of light interacts with matter differently. For example:

    * Radio waves: Tell us about cold gas and dust, the magnetic fields of galaxies, and the formation of stars.

    * Infrared: Allows us to see through dust clouds to study star formation and the early universe.

    * Most of the universe is invisible to the human eye: A vast amount of matter and energy in the universe emits light outside the visible spectrum. Studying these frequencies allows us to explore a much larger portion of the cosmos.
