Here's why:
* Earth's Rotation: Earth's rotation is what causes day and night. As the Earth spins, different parts of the planet face the sun, resulting in a cycle of daylight and darkness.
* Stopped Rotation: If the Earth stopped rotating, the side facing the sun would remain bathed in sunlight constantly. The opposite side, facing away from the sun, would remain in darkness indefinitely.
The concept of "Northern Hemisphere" wouldn't apply anymore because the Earth would no longer be rotating on its axis. There would be a permanently sunlit side and a permanently dark side, regardless of the Earth's position in its orbit around the Sun.
