  • Why are Earth, Sun & Moon Spherical? - Understanding Gravity's Role
The Earth, Sun, and Moon are spheres because of gravity. Here's how it works:

    * Gravity's Pull: Gravity pulls everything towards its center. For large objects like planets, stars, and moons, this inward pull is incredibly strong.

    * Equal Distribution of Mass: As these objects form, their material gets pulled inward equally from all directions. This creates a balanced, spherical shape.

    * Minimizing Surface Area: A sphere is the shape that minimizes surface area for a given volume. This is a key factor in how gravity shapes objects.

Think of it like this: Imagine a ball of clay. If you squeeze it from all sides, it will eventually form a sphere because that's the most stable configuration where the material is evenly distributed and the surface area is minimized.

Important Note: While these objects are generally spherical, they aren't perfectly smooth. The Earth, for example, has mountains, valleys, and an uneven surface. However, the overall shape remains a sphere due to the overwhelming influence of gravity.
