  • Ozone Layer: Protecting Earth from Harmful UV Radiation
The important layer of the atmosphere that blocks harmful radiation from the sun is called the Ozone Layer.

The ozone layer is located in the stratosphere, about 15 to 35 kilometers (9 to 22 miles) above Earth's surface. It contains high concentrations of ozone gas (O3), which absorbs most of the sun's harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. This protection is crucial for life on Earth, as UV radiation can cause skin cancer, cataracts, and damage to plants and animals.
