    Jupiter is an outer planet.

    Here's why:

    * Inner planets are the four closest to the Sun: Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. They are mostly rocky and dense.

    * Outer planets are the four beyond the asteroid belt: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. They are much larger, gaseous, and less dense.
