  • Planets in Our Solar System: A Comprehensive Guide
The large bodies in space that orbit the sun are called planets.

Here are the eight planets in our solar system, in order from closest to the sun to farthest:

    1. Mercury

    2. Venus

    3. Earth

    4. Mars

    5. Jupiter

    6. Saturn

    7. Uranus

    8. Neptune

There are also other objects that orbit the sun, including:

    * Dwarf planets: These are smaller than planets and don't clear their orbital paths. Pluto is the most famous dwarf planet.

    * Moons: These are natural satellites that orbit planets.

    * Asteroids: These are rocky bodies, mostly found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

    * Comets: These are icy bodies that orbit the sun in highly elliptical paths.

So, while planets are the largest bodies that orbit the sun, they are not the only ones. Our solar system is full of fascinating objects!
