    The Northern Cross is a asterism (a pattern of stars) within the constellation Cygnus, the Swan. The brightest star in the Northern Cross is Deneb, which is also the brightest star in Cygnus.

    Deneb is a supergiant star, and it's one of the most luminous stars visible to the naked eye. It's located at the tail of the swan, marking the top of the cross.
