  • The Sun's Corona: Unveiling Its True Colors
The corona of the sun is white.

While it appears whitish to our eyes, it's important to note that the corona actually emits light across the entire electromagnetic spectrum. This means it contains all the colors of the rainbow, but our eyes blend them together to perceive it as white.

    Here's why it appears white:

    * High temperature: The corona is incredibly hot (millions of degrees Celsius), causing it to emit a broad spectrum of light.

    * Scattering: The light from the corona is scattered by the particles in the interplanetary medium, making it appear white.

Fun fact: You can actually see the corona during a total solar eclipse, when the moon completely blocks out the sun's bright disk. This allows the faint light of the corona to become visible.
