  • Visible Galaxies: What Can You See With the Naked Eye?
Only two galaxies are easily visible to the naked eye from Earth:

    * The Andromeda Galaxy (M31): Located about 2.5 million light-years away, it's the closest major galaxy to our own Milky Way and appears as a faint, fuzzy patch of light in the constellation Andromeda.

    * The Triangulum Galaxy (M33): Located about 3 million light-years away, it's the third largest member of the Local Group (a group of galaxies that includes our Milky Way) and is a bit fainter than Andromeda.

While other galaxies might be out there, they are too faint or obscured by light pollution to be seen without the aid of telescopes.
