  • Who Invented the Telescope? The Truth About Johannes Kepler
Johannes Kepler did not invent the telescope.

The telescope was invented in the Netherlands around 1608, likely by Hans Lippershey, Zacharias Janssen, or Jacob Metius. Kepler was a contemporary of these inventors and he did make important contributions to the understanding of optics and how telescopes worked. He even designed a new type of telescope called the Keplerian telescope, which is still used today.
