  • Venera 7: The First and Only Successful Landing on Venus
    While many spacecraft have flown by Venus, only one spacecraft has successfully landed on the surface of Venus:

    * Venera 7 (Soviet Union, 1970)

    It's important to note that:

    * Venera 7 only lasted for about 23 minutes on the surface due to the extreme heat and pressure.

    * Several other Venera probes (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14) also landed on Venus, but their missions were largely focused on studying the atmosphere and only briefly touched down on the surface.

    It's also worth mentioning that the Soviet Vega 1 and Vega 2 probes (1985) released balloons into Venus' atmosphere to study it, but they didn't land on the surface.

    Landing on Venus is extremely challenging due to its incredibly dense atmosphere and scorching temperatures. It is a harsh environment that only a few spacecraft have been able to withstand.
