  • The History of the Microscope: Who Invented It and When?
The invention of the microscope is generally attributed to Zacharias Janssen in the late 16th century (around 1590-1595) in the Netherlands.

However, the exact details of its invention are still debated, and some historians believe that Hans Lippershey, another Dutch lensmaker, might have also been involved in the development of the microscope.

It's important to note that Janssen's invention was a compound microscope, meaning it used two lenses to magnify an object. While simpler magnifying glasses had been used for centuries before, Janssen's invention was a significant breakthrough in the field of microscopy.
