  • Earth: The Oldest Planet in Our Solar System - Formation & History
While all planets in our solar system are billions of years old, Earth is considered to be the oldest among them.

    Here's why:

    * Formation: Earth formed around 4.54 billion years ago, just slightly after the Sun and the rest of the solar system.

    * Early Stages: Earth's early stages involved a period of intense bombardment by asteroids and comets, which would have significantly reshaped its surface. This early stage likely erased much of the evidence of its initial formation.

    * Geological Evidence: Despite the intense early bombardment, Earth has preserved some of the oldest rocks in the solar system, providing strong evidence of its age.

While other planets like Mars and Venus are also very old, their surfaces have been heavily altered by volcanic activity and other geological processes, making it difficult to definitively determine their age.
