    We know the Earth revolves around the Sun due to a combination of observations and scientific evidence. Here are some of the key reasons:

    1. Observation of Planetary Motion:

    * Retrograde Motion: Planets appear to move backwards in the sky (retrograde motion) for short periods. This is explained by the Earth overtaking outer planets in its orbit around the Sun.

    * Phases of Venus: Like the Moon, Venus exhibits phases, appearing as a crescent, gibbous, full, and waning. This can only be explained if Venus orbits the Sun and we observe it from different positions in our own orbit.

    2. Stellar Parallax:

    * Shifting Stars: As Earth orbits the Sun, nearby stars appear to shift slightly in position against the background of distant stars. This is called stellar parallax. The closer the star, the greater the shift. This phenomenon provides direct evidence of Earth's motion.
