  • Northern Lights Particles: Understanding Solar Wind & Aurora
    The particles that cause the Northern Lights are charged particles from the solar wind.

    Specifically, these charged particles are:

    * Electrons

    * Protons

    These particles are ejected from the sun and travel through space until they interact with Earth's magnetic field. They are then guided towards the poles, where they collide with atoms in the atmosphere, causing them to become excited and emit light. This light is what we see as the Northern Lights.
