Jupiter formed very early in the history of our solar system, around 4.5 billion years ago. This was just a few million years after the Sun itself was formed.

It's difficult to pinpoint an exact date, but scientists believe Jupiter was one of the first planets to form, and its gravitational influence played a major role in shaping the rest of the solar system.
